| Miniature Schnauzer – Important Information |
![]() The origin of the breed is Germany. The name comes from southern Germany (Bavaria) where the expression “schnau” or “schnauzer” was used to describe a moustache and thus the expression was used for these dogs since the moustache and beard that decorate their face are among their prominent features. The Miniature Schnauzer – Zwerg Schnauzer in German – is a precise but diminutive copy of its Giant and Medium counterparts, maintaining all the positive characteristics of these breeds. Naturally, its small stature (35cm at withers) limits its ability to be a “working dog” like its larger siblings, but its courage, cheerfulness, loyalty and pride make it a dog with real presence, not just a lap dog.
The FCI recognizes four colors in the Miniature Schnauzer: black, salt and pepper, black and silver, white.
